ABSTRACT

Leather carving is a traditional handicraft that combines artistic and practical value. It can be executed entirely by hand through carving, hammering, pressing, and modelling, or produced in batches with mechanical moulds. This study traces the historical origins of leather carving, examines its development and stylistic characteristics in China and abroad, and discusses its methods of application and dimensions of value in handcrafted leather goods. On this basis, the study introduces the folk-cultural resources of Wuchuan Piaose, a national intangible cultural heritage practice, and investigates how its visual elements and cultural meanings can be creatively translated into leather accessories. It further explores an industrial development model that integrates cultural and creative products with intangible-cultural-heritage experiences, providing practical references for the localized innovation of traditional leather carving and the living transmission of folk intangible cultural heritage.
