This paper analyzes the urban-rural income gap in China using CFPS data from Peking University 2020. Overall, the ratio of income between urban and rural residents in China is 1.14, indicating that there is a 14% difference between the income of urban residents and rural residents. About 60% of urban and rural residents are in a relatively and very satisfied with their job income. There is gender heterogeneity in the urban-rural income gap, and the income gap between male and female residents also exists significantly. The income gap between urban and rural areas of Chinese residents widens as the age of residents increases. The income gap between urban and rural residents first shrinks and then widens with the increase of education, showing a U-shaped trend. This paper provides a perspective for data analysis to understand the urban-rural income gap in China.
