Saussure's thoughts in A Course of General Linguistics profoundly influenced the emergence and development of structuralism in the 20th century. Many concepts put forward by Saussure, such as "signifier and signified", "language and speech", "synchronicity and diachrony" and "combination and aggregation", have a profound influence on structuralism. The structuralist Saussure's linguistic concepts are widely used in literature, anthropology, sociology and other fields. The structuralist methodology influenced by Saussure provides a third path for the humanities and social sciences besides positivism and hermeneutics. From the perspective of humanities and social sciences, the structuralist methodology based on linguistics has had an important impact, but it also left some problems and promoted the transformation from structuralism to deconstruction.
