ABSTRACT
Further growth of the Russian economy is impossible without solving a number of tasks that are a consequence of the challenges that technological progress poses to virtually every developed country. The presented article tells about such an important element of the country's energy network as energy storage systems (ESS). The role of this element is viewed through the prism of current problems the Russian power industry is facing.
