With the rapid advancement of information technology, 5G wireless communication technology, as the fifth generation of mobile communication, is profoundly transforming the development landscape of various industries due to its significant advantages in high speed, low latency, and massive connectivity. This paper systematically elucidates the fundamental concepts, core technological elements of 5G wireless communication technology, and its applications across multiple fields. Firstly, it reviews the development history of 5G and compares it with previous generations of communication technologies (such as 4G), highlighting its technological advantages and innovations. Subsequently, it delves into the core technologies of 5G, including Massive MIMO (Massive Multiple Input Multiple Output), mmWave (millimeter Wave) communication, Network Slicing, and Edge Computing, exploring the pivotal roles these technologies play in enhancing network performance. The paper then focuses on the applications of 5G in Enhanced Mobile Broadband (eMBB), Massive Machine-Type Communications (mMTC), and Ultra-Reliable Low-Latency Communications (URLLC), covering typical cases in smart manufacturing, healthcare, smart cities, and autonomous driving, thereby demonstrating the immense potential and transformative impact of 5G technology in practical applications. Furthermore, it discusses the main challenges faced during the deployment of 5G technology, such as spectrum resources and coverage, infrastructure construction costs, and security and privacy protection, and proposes corresponding solutions and recommendations. Finally, the paper looks ahead to the future development trends of 5G technology, exploring its integration with artificial intelligence, evolution towards 6G technology, and the direction of green communications. Through a comprehensive analysis of 5G wireless communication technology, this paper provides theoretical support and practical references for related research and applications, holding significant academic value and practical significance.
