ABSTRACT

The relationship between body and technology in digital media dance has long been trapped in a binary oppositional thinking framework, making it difficult to fully explain the complex interaction between the two in contemporary dance practice. This article re-examines this core issue by distinguishing between the two relationship modes of "coexistence" and "symbiosis". Research has shown that technology embedding in coexisting modes extends body perception and reconstructs spatial logic, while the body serves as both a medium and feedback interface for technology visualization, maintaining dynamic balance in tension; The symbiotic mode realizes the internalization of technology into the collaborative generation of motion consciousness, digital encoding, and body rhythm, leading to a redefinition of dance subject attribution and the migration of dancers' identities to cross species subjects. The conclusion indicates that the body and technology are not in a competitive relationship, but rather an organic whole composed of each other. This symbiotic perspective provides a new theoretical path for the aesthetic analysis of digital dance.
