under the premise of in-depth development of society, the country has made a new change in the goal and direction of talent cultivation, and began to pay attention to the effective cultivation of practical and applied talents. Dance is an important educational content in Colleges and universities. As a typical artistic discipline, it has strict requirements for talents' professional knowledge and skills. Therefore, teachers need to actively implement the concept of applied talents cultivation, and strengthen innovation in specific teaching programs and measures. Next, the main analysis of the current development of dance teaching, explore the significance of the application-oriented talent training, and analyze the specific training path, from the establishment of curriculum system, innovation of multiple teaching methods and other aspects of effective exploration.
