ABSTRACT

The integration and development of academic education and ideological and political education is a vital issue in the current educational reform. The purpose of this paper is to explore the paths and strategies of the integration of college English instruction and ideological and political education, so as to cultivate high-level English talents in line with the requirements of socialist construction. It is found that the establishment of a unified ideological and political education program is the foundation of the integration development, and by integrating the contents of ideological and political education into college English instruction, students can be encouraged to form correct ideological and political concepts and moral qualities. Innovative teaching methods and means can stimulate students' thinking and discursive ability, and cultivate independent thinking and innovation. Strengthening the construction of teachers is the crux to ensure the development of integration, and cultivate English teachers with theories and practical experience in ideological-political education. The establishment of evaluation and supervision mechanism can ensure the favourable development of integration, and the combination with social practice can enable students to have a deep insight of social problems and challenges. Based on this, some paths and strategies are provided, which can provide useful reference and guidance for the integrated development of college English instruction and ideological and political education.
