ABSTRACT

The General Secretary delivered an important speech at the Symposium on Philosophy and Social Science Work in 2016. After that, the country's philosophy and social science research has made great progress and its influence has become more and more important. The social practice in the new era provides an important theoretical source for the development and prosperity of philosophy and social sciences, and also puts forward urgent requirements for the theoretical innovation of philosophy and social sciences. The development of contemporary Chinese philosophy and social sciences must adhere to the latest achievements of Marxism in China and continue to carry out theoretical innovations, so that philosophy and social science can promote the development of social practice. Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the development of philosophy and social sciences has been placed in an important position. The General Secretary has repeatedly delivered important speeches on the work of philosophy and social sciences and made a series of important decisions and arrangements for the development of philosophy and social sciences. In the direction of progress, the philosophy and social sciences with Chinese characteristics have taken solid steps in both theory and practice. The report of the 19th National Congress clearly stated that after long-term efforts, socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a new era, which is a new historical orientation for the country's development. Facing the new era, we must continue to deepen the study of Marxist theory and continue to accelerate the pace of constructing the theoretical system of philosophy and social sciences. Entering a new era also means that the country has once again entered an important period of social change. Social reform and practice in the new era will inevitably promote the continuous innovation and development of philosophy and social sciences. At the same time, the continuous innovation of philosophy and social sciences is also the need of the development of the times. It is an inevitable requirement of social development and progress. The vast number of philosophical and social science workers must grasp the pulse of the times, face the future, contribute their own unique strength to the philosophy and social sciences, and promote the progress and development of society.
