This is a matter of culture. Language is the reflection of culture and vice versa. They depend on each other. At the first glance, the same words may have different cultural connotations. The goal of the thesis is to learn the differences and similarities between connotations of basic color terms in English and Russian from a multicultural perspective and analyze their causes from natural, geographical, historical, political and social factors. The method of research in this thesis is comparative analysis, which will allow us to know more about the subject of color terms of two different cultures and also, will give us a chance to compare and contrast the connotations of basic color words.
