ABSTRACT

Language is the basic tool for human communication, and discourse is the smallest unit of language communication. As an analytical method for studying discourse use, discourse analysis has become a crucial research method in many fields such as linguistics, sociology, psychology, and so on. From the perspective of functional linguistics, discourse is not only a tool for expressing meaning, but also a way to achieve various social functions such as social communication, power display, and emotional expression. Therefore, discourse analysis from the perspective of functional linguistics can deeply recognize how language users achieve different social goals through discourse.
